The Queensland Young Nationals are leading their senior party colleagues with the launch of their newest marketing tool, a 1977 Nationals green Kombi van plastered with The Nationals logo. Owned and operated by the Queensland Young Nationals the Kombi was launched on February 8 by Senator Barnaby Joyce at the launch of the Springwood branch of the Young Nationals. “This Kombi van is going to be hauled around the countryside as a way of getting The Nationals out there and winning seats at the upcoming Federal election,” said State President Damien Tessmann. “Candidates like Hajnal Ban in Forde, Cr Glenn Churchill in Flynn, Ian Crossland in Leichhardt and Senate Candidates Ron Boswell, David Goodwin and Scott Buchholtz are the people this country so desperately needs in the Federal Parliament to keep our nation and economy strong. The Young Nationals realise this and we will do whatever is needed to get these men and women across the line for our great party” Mr Tessmann said. The idea originated from Cr Aidan McLindon, the South-East Zone Vice-President of the Young Nationals, and Senate candidate David Goodwin as a way of boosting the profile of the party in the South-East as well as targeting university open days and major events where voters will be. “The concept is to re-engage with young people and tour the Kombi to places and events such as Uni open days, festivals and community shows. It's part of the process of reinvigorating the way we can connect to people and promote The Nationals, particularly in the South East" said Cr Aidan McLindon. The van is scheduled to be at a number of university open days, The Young Nationals State Conference in Brisbane (5th and 6th of May), The Nationals Central Council in Maryborough (24th and 25th of March) and making laps of Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
